Lesson Example
Students have been reading the historical narrative written in diary form - 'Surviving Sydney Cove'. It is written from a young convict girl - Lizzie, point of view and each diary entry is addressed to her younger brother Edward, who is still living in England. Prior to this lessons students had created a PMI chart, recording the positives, negatives and interesting thoughts about Lizzie's new living arrangement (She is to go and live with Surgeon Russell to look after his young daughter Emily. After students had recorded their thoughts in the PMI chart they then wrote a diary entry that addressed both the positive and negative aspects of this change in circumstance and published it using the Steve Parish post card app. We had discussed which images would be suitable on the postcard due to the year it was written.
